NOW THAT THE CHAIR IS YOURS
The Executive Transition
10 executives. 10 weeks. One bigger chair.
A confidential executive advisory experience for senior leaders navigating the first 18 months of a new or significantly expanded leadership role.
FOUNDING COHORT • FALL 2026
Tuesdays • 12:00-1:30pm ET
October 6-December 15, 2026
Getting the title is one thing. Leading from the chair is another.
The first months in a new or significantly expanded leadership role can define what follows. You're learning an organization while everyone around you is learning you. You're assessing people, setting priorities, managing expectations, navigating inherited dynamics and making consequential decisions, often with incomplete information.
And sometimes there is no orderly transition.
You inherit a crisis. A turnaround. A difficult predecessor situation. A fractured team. A mandate for change. You spend the first several months solving what's directly in front of you. By the time you come up for air, you may be nine, twelve or even eighteen months into the role.
The Executive Transition is designed for that period.
THE ROOM
You're not the only person figuring out a new chair.
The Executive Transition brings together 10 senior leaders from different industries and backgrounds who are navigating many of the same questions from different perspectives.
THE FRAMEWORK
A practical leadership concept you can use.
THE CASE
How the issue shows up in the real world.
You just rarely get to talk candidly with the others.
This is not a class. It is a confidential working room built around real executive situations, practical leadership frameworks and candid peer discussion.
THE ROOM
Candid discussion of the challenges executives are facing now.
The value isn't only who's leading the room. It's who's sitting beside you.
THE MOVE
The action you'll take before the next session.
The 10 Weeks
Ten leadership challenges. Ten opportunities to make a better move.
01— Learn Before You Lead
Understand what you've inherited before deciding what needs to change.
02 — The Room Changes When You Walk In
Recognize how authority changes what people tell you, and what they don't.
03 — The Two-Chair Operating Model
Navigate predecessors, founders, interim leaders and overlapping authority.
04 — The 4 A's: Assess. Align. Assign. Achieve.
Evaluate the team, align the work, clarify responsibility and drive performance.
05 — What Does the Organization Need From You?
Turn what you've learned into a clear leadership agenda.
06 — Everyone Left the Meeting. Now What?
Move from discussion to decisions, ownership and accountability.
07— Perfect Decisions With Imperfect Data
Lead when the information is incomplete and waiting isn't an option.
08 — You're in Charge. You're Not in Control.
Navigate boards, bosses, owners and stakeholders whose authority intersects with yours.
09 — The State of the Organization
Tell people where the organization stands, where it's going and what matters now.
10 — Make the Chair Yours
Move beyond transition toward an intentional leadership model and 12-month plan.
THE FRAMEWORKS
Participants gain access to PHSA's proprietary leadership concepts, frameworks and operating tools developed from decades of leading organizations through growth, disruption, turnaround and change.
THE 4 A'S
Assess. Align. Assign. Achieve.
THE TWO-CHAIR OPERATING MODEL
A framework for navigating overlapping authority, predecessors, founders and leadership transitions.
EXECUTIVE TRANSITION DIAGNOSTICS
Tools for assessing what you inherited, where attention is needed and what should come next.
These aren't leadership theories to study. They're tools to help you diagnose a situation, make a decision and lead through it.
WHAT YOU LEAVE WITH
By the end of the 10 weeks, you will have:
A clearer assessment
of the organization you inherited.
A defined leadership agenda
and set of priorities.
A plan for strengthening your leadership team
Greater clarity around decision rights and accountability
A strategy for managing critical stakeholders
A 12-month Executive Leadership Plan
for moving the organization forward.
WHO SHOULD BE IN THE ROOM
The Executive Transition is designed for senior leaders within approximately the first 18 months of a new or significantly expanded leadership role.
That may include CEOs, Presidents, COOs, General Managers, Executive Directors, SVPs, VPs and other senior leaders who have inherited a larger organization, greater responsibility or a consequential leadership challenge.
Some participants will be weeks into the transition. Others may be a year into the role and only now have the opportunity to move from reacting to deliberately shaping what comes next.
Participation is limited to 10 executives and is by application or invitation.
